Vintage

Digi Haven's challenge this week is vintage cards.  It was fun to get out of my comfort zone a bit.  I normally make bright and modern cards so this was a stretch for me.  I just love Digi Haven's challenges (probably because I'm all about free digis).

Supplies: Paper-Paper Studio and My Mind's Eye, Twine-Karen's Krafts, Brads-Making Memories, Image-A Day for Daisies

The yellow polka dot paper is by My Mind's Eye.  The digital image is from A Day for Daisies and can be found HERE.  Linking up to A Day For Daisies-yellow polka dots and There She Goes-sketch challenge

That road trip paper is awesome.  I just love the masculine feel of this card.  You can find the vintage truck digi HERE.  Linking up to Penny's Challenges-masculine cards, Crafts and Me-autumn colors, and Crazy Amigo-travel.

Saturday's a Crafting Day

It's Saturday!  Saturday means crafting day.  Here's a funny card, since I'm feeling quirky today:

Paper-Provo Craft, Images and sentiments-The Alley Way Stamps

And the inside:

I layered 2 free digis from TAWS to make the snail pattern.  You can find them HERE.  They're rainbow colors cuz I was inspired:

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas-for OWH anyways

One of the hardest parts (at least for me) of making cards for OWH is the holiday deadlines.  Those deadlines are the reason I stick to general cards.  But I do love Christmas all year round.  Plus, without air conditioning, I'm baking in our apartment, so I've got some winter wishes.  I've made a few winter cards, but here's my favorite:

Paper-DCWV, Rub-ons and ribbon-American Crafts, Die cuts and embellishments-Provo Craft, Image-Whoopsi Daisy

I love the dancers on Whoopsi Daisy's sheet 3.  They remind me of Nutcracker ballerinas.  I also love how the peppermint candy turned out.  It was part of a border.  I had to get creative to fix the plastic wrapper.  I took out the neighboring paper candy and used it's wrapper to complete this one's.

Bonus card!  It's super simple, but I love the image.

Color!

So I made a bunch on Christmas cards today.  I love holiday cards, but after making a few, I was dying to use bright colors again.  Anyone else a bright girly color addict?

Paper-???(sorry), Brads-Making Memories, Die Cuts-Cricut, Image-The Saturated Canary

The flower image is from the Gypsy Wanderings Cricut cartridge.  I love the funky look of it.  It took a long time to set it up on the card so that it didn't cover the adorable image.  I like how it turned out though.

Being Knotty

Hi!  I haven't been on here in a while.  Mostly stressing about school... Can't believe the summer is over; soon I'll be back to teaching.

I've been hit and miss on the Hambo Hoedown lately, but this week's challenge was to include a knot on your project, and I can handle that.  I've been looking for a way to use my new jute for a while now.

Paper-Basic Grey, Twine-Karen's Krafts, Rub Ons-Chatterbox, Image-Hambo

I'm addicted to that fun fishing image.  It's called "Wee Henry Fishing" by Hambo Stamps.  I keep using it on just about every OWH boy card that I make.  I think my favorite part of this card though is the frogs.  That frog paper just cracks me up.  I included a frog rub-on on the tag to tie into the paper.

Anniversary

Yesterday was my hubby's and my 3rd anniversary.  Is it dumb to say that even though we married planning on forever, it still feels crazy to think we've been married for 3 years?  I still wake up surprised to be someone's wife, especially the wife to someone as wonderful as my husband.

I made him an anniversary card.  Warning-I tend not to be a very sappy person.

Paper-My Mind's Eye, Cardstock-Bazzil, Stamps-There She Goes, Ribbon-American Crafts

My husband is studying microbiology and I'm a science teacher.  We both are geeks.  So I instantly thought of these stamps when I contemplated this card.  I think they are hilariously adorable!  There She Goes have other science stamp sets too.  Is it nerdy that I understand all the jokes?  Especially the quantitative chemistry ones?  I planned on stamping the sentiment behind the scientist on white, but then I thought that making a chalkboard behind him would be better.

My hubby loved the card.  I plan on copying this card and making some for the soldiers.  Think they like science?

Kitty Kard!

I'm addicted to cats.  I think all my posts are proof of that.  Even this one:

Paper-Michael's, Image-Milk Coffee Stamps, Sentiment-PaperCrafts magazine

This cute image is called "Charlotte and her kitten."  She has a Siamese kitten.  I'm a bit partial to Siamese since my first two cats were Siamese (though my present kitty is Calico, which is really hard to color).

I've been experimenting with my PrismaColor colored pencils.  I'm trying to master shading and highlighting.  How is it?  Any advice?  I'm finding it's best to using my oil painting shading techniques-start darker and gradually lighten.  I'm proud of Charlotte's shirt and skirt, but I gave up on shading her hair finally.

It's a simple card but still cute.  OWH is low on cards right now, so I'm trying to go simpler and quicker while still making quality cards.
